6 – 9pm

Lann Smyth

Originally designed for fishermen on the east coast, Thrum Mittens (knit from 100% wool) kept their hands warm and dry. The outside wool is naturally water resistant while the inside wool thrums will felt together. This workshop will teach the technique to create the thrums and insert them as you knit a simple mitten pattern. You will learn how to knit the mitten thumb using a waste yarn technique and a simple, yet decorative cable rib.  At the end of this workshop you will be well on your way to completing a mitten.

This workshop is suitable for an intermediate knitter who can knit in-the-round with 4 needles.

Kit: $16.00 (available from Heartfelt)

Bring: 3.75mm needles (set of 4 or 5 double pointed), please wind your wool skein into a ball prior to the workshop
